The oldest of the Carrera slot cars do not feature the "New Technology" improvements.

Carrera produces some of the finest 1/24 scale model slot cars in the World. And for late 2005, they are improved in many ways. All the newest Carrera slot cars include the "New Technology" features. The "New Technology" features are available in the new Carrera Corvette C6-R, the Carrera Ferrari 330P4, the Carrera Ferrari 575GTC, the Carrera Ford Hot Rod, the Carrera Porsche 906 Carrera 6 and the Carrera Audi R10.

We get many requests for slot racing track that is wider than the standard Scalextric and SCX track (6 1/16 inch). The advantages of wider Carrera slot track is obvious; more room for driving or use of larger 1/24 scale racing cars. See the comparison chart of track dimensions of the various manufacturers below.

Carrera slot track is 7 ^³/4" wide with a slot separation of 3 ^⁷/8". This makes Carrera the widest slot track available anywhere. The composition of the Carrera track is not flexible like Scalextric, SCX, and Ninco tracks. Rather, Carrera slot track is a very sturdy hard plastic which does not bend. The track surface still offers excellent grip for modern slot cars despite its smoother, harder surface. This track is noticeably larger so you will need more room to assemble a Carrera slot race track than you do with the other brands. If you have the room, there is virtually no limit to the size (up to six lanes) and scope of the layout Carrera track can provide. Carrera offers several different radius curves as well as banked curves to add variety to your layout.

Shown above is an illustration showing the relative difference between Carrera 1/32 slot cars (Evolution) and Carrera 1/24 slot cars (Exclusive). All Carrera race sets use the same track and can accommodate all other popular brands of slot cars like Fly, Scalextric, Ninco, SCX, etc. Carrera Exclusive (1/24 slot race sets) come with a more powerful power supply and feature dual connections which provide independent power to each track lane.

Carrera makes the widest slot track available (designed for 1/24 scale racing cars). The track pieces used in Carrera's new 1/32 sets are the exact same track pieces from their 1/24 sets. All Carrera track is promoted in the US & Canada. Carrera track is very wide, the widest in the industry today. You can expand to four lane and six lane track by selecting their multiple radius curves and everything snaps nicely together. Carrera track is a hard plastic, not the flexible vinyl offered by other manufacturers. We recommend Carrera to those who already started with Carrera and to those diehards who want the widest and perhaps largest layouts they can make. With Carrera track, you can run old and new 1/24 scale cars. 1/32 scale Carrera cars will run fine on Ninco and Scalextric race tracks.

Carrera offers two types of slot race sets, those with 1/32 scale cars included (EvolutioN) and those with 1/24 scale cars included (ExclusiV). The important factor here is that the track pieces supplied in both types of race sets are IDENTICAL.

Regardless of which scale you choose for your first set, you can add track pieces which are the same for both types of cars.
