SUMMARY OF THE 2017 I-HOBBY TRADE SHOW IN CHICAGO

Mark Haveman just returned home from the 2017 Chicago I-Hobby Show.  While many quality vendors were there it seems that slowly other major vendors are skipping this show.  Nevertheless, we stopped by the Minichamps/Kyosho/BBR/Spark booth, as well as Highway 61, Signature, BRM, Scalextric, Ninco, Carrera, and SCX.  We stopped by many others as well but we limited our pictures to those that we feel were most interesting and exciting.  Most of the pictures represent future products so these pictures are some of the first available anywhere.  Most of these products are already on our web site so you can preorder if you choose.  At this point we don’t now have accurate information about the planned time release of any of these cars.  Please be patient as we wait for additional information.

Model brands that were not present at Chicago this year were AutoArt, Exoto, GMP, Maisto, and some other minor brands that may be carried by hobby distributors.

I have a sense that the buying crowd (retailers and hobby shop owners) were NOT present in big numbers.  This year’s attendance may be an indicator of the slow demise of future trade shows.  I am not predicting this, just that several vendors were disappointed with the crowd and may choose to stay home next year.

Note that all sales are final – no returns or exchanges.

Please read the following instructions

Your shopping cart will not show a zero dollar amount for the free car – this is done when the order is processed  Shipping costs will be calculated normally.  Please do not call for a shipping date as this will vary by orders placed.  We reserve the right to establish a cutoff date but for now we can guarantee the sale at least through August 30 and probably longer.…

Also from GMP in their limited 1/12 scale Dirt Champ series, the fourth large scale Champ car, this one being the very attractive Mario Andretti Ford 4-cammer #2 Champ car sponsored by Vels Parnelli Jones Racing and driven by Mario in 1973.  What sets this car off from the previous two of these large scale cars is of course that monster engine sticking out of either side of the engine compartment and the overhead roll cage, a first for GMP products.   The engine is the same as used in the Al Unser Johnny Lightning Champ car which sold out two years ago very quickly.  This famous race car is now reduced to $219.95.…
